Bray Park is a suburb in the Pine Rivers Shire, north of Brisbane. The centre first opened in 2007, and features three classrooms with the ability to enrol 33 children. There are 17 staff members employed, and the centre is managed by Brigitte Pernusch. The program is managed by Meg Russel.
Meg, who specialises in Occupational Therapy has been with AEIOU Foundation for 2.5 years, and says the most satisfying part of her role is seeing the moment where a child learns a new skill, recognising each new skill has the potential to change the course of a child’s life.
Brigitte has been with AEIOU Foundation for nearly 10 years, and says the most satisfying aspect of working with the Foundation is the continued quality in the program and subsequent outcomes the children experience. “I’ve been lucky to be eyewitness to the growth of AEIOU Foundation and its commitment to improving the quality of its service. At our centre we have a strong and long standing sense of ongoing community support, and many past families remaining in touch, sometimes visiting years after they have left.
“We have a friendly, supportive community who continue to fundraise for our centre, and we have an involved parent fundraising committee. I’m proud that five of our staff members have been with us for more than 5 years, with invaluable knowledge and dedication to their work.
We may have an older centre, but our families say it feels homely and that it has a great heart.”
