AEIOU Toowoomba

For many, AEIOU’s Toowoomba centre is like a home away from home. With the capacity to enrol up to 16 children with autism, our little ones are not only based in the immediate community of Toowoomba, but also commute from properties in surrounding towns or regions. The centre features three classrooms, a parent room, a large shady playground and a sensory garden.

This centre is home to a beautiful community, which raises funds and donates resources on a regular basis, also taking part in signature events such as Take A Hike in droves.

The team

The team includes many long-standing members, including Service Manager Sandy Peachey, who has celebrated 10 years with AEIOU. Sandy finds the AEIOU team is a devoted one. “We want the very best for all of the children who come to us. To see each child mastering their goals and developing into the very best people they can be is so exciting. To be able to be a part of a child’s life at such an early and critical stage is such a privilege.”

“I love getting to know the families of these wonderful children, with all their different backgrounds and life experiences. We have a number of past families who stay in touch to let us know what their children are now doing and how they are succeeding in their lives. It’s an incredible feeling to know AEIOU was integral in helping their families find the keys to unlock their potential.”

Sandy says, as autism awareness grows in the community each year, “so is the love and support, which makes our centre special, and we’re lucky to be a part of this community”.

Rhonda Greensill's legacy

AEIOU’s Toowoomba centre opened in 2007, and was established with thanks to the incredible support from much-loved local GP, Rhonda Greensill. Soon after the centre was established, Rhonda passed away. Her legacy is remembered at the centre, now named 'The Rhonda Greensill Centre, AEIOU Toowoomba’ in her honour. Rhonda’s family remain important, valued friends of AEIOU Foundation.
