On a sunny autumn morning of 6 April, Brisbane laced up and turned out in full force for AEIOU's Be Awesome for Autism Fun Run and Family Day. Held at the beautiful University of Queensland St Lucia campus, this year’s event brought together hundreds of runners, families, friends, and four-legged companions to run and walk in support of children with autism. This year’s event was extra special as AEIOU Foundation marks its 20th anniversary. For over two decades, AEIOU has been dedicated to helping children with autism live their best lives, and events like this remind us just how powerful community support can be.
This wasn’t just any fun run. It was a celebration of community, inclusion, and the incredible children and families AEIOU supports every day. From the dedicated 10km runners to the families strolling the 5km course hand-in-hand, every step helped raise awareness and vital funds for AEIOU’s early intervention programs for children with autism. This year, our Brisbane goal was to raise $100,000, and thanks to your enthusiasm and generosity, we’re well on our way.
The fun didn't stop at the finish line with the free festivities for everyone involved, from pony rides and a petting zoo, a trackless train, face painting, sensory play zone, ball games and bubbles to a variety of food trucks, a coffee van, live music, and more.
To every participant, volunteer, donor, and supporter: thank you for making Be Awesome for Autism Brisbane Fun Run and Family Day such a success. Whether you were there to run, walk, cheer, or cuddle a bunny, you’ve made a lasting impact on the families we support. The energy was electric, the smiles were contagious, and the memories? Captured beautifully in our new 2025 Fun Run Photo Gallery!
